Where to look for flight tickets?

Skyscanner – is a search engine which enables you to find flights and compare their prices, you can find fare for an entire month, the cheapest month to travel as well as the cheapest destination to flight to from any city

Matrix Airfare Search – is a software which allows you to find flight ticket prices using multiple airport codes, so you can easily find the cheapest open-jaw tickets

Pelikan – a Slovak based travel agency offering cheap flights on their website (also has Czech, Hungarian, Polish, German and Austrian versions)

Fly4free – the most amazing flight deals posted daily

Cestujlevne – a very popular Czech website where cheap flight deals are regularly shared

JAKnaLETENKY – another popular Czech website with loads of flight deals

Where to look for accommodation?

Airbnb – stay with local hosts and feel like in a hotel while paying much less

CouchSurfing – stay with local host as a part of multicultural exchange

Booking.com – book hotels, hostels, guesthouses all around the world

Hostelbookers – this used to be my favourite website for finding hostels, I think this is the website I probably made the highest number of bookings with in the past

Hostelworld – this used to be my second favourite website for finding hostels

Where to look for information?

Lonely Planet – an all-time backpackers’ favourite provides information online as well as in a form of electronic and printed guidebooks, I really like the Thorn Tree Forum where you can get first-hand information from travellers who have just visited a country your are about to go to – highly recommended

Wikivoyage – the travel version of wikipedia

Frommer’s – an online travel guide where I usually find good itineraries

Hedvabna Stezka – an excellent and popular Czech website where you can find loads of travel information, they also have a travellers’ club and hold interesting presentations given by experienced and amateur travellers
